Update Regarding Garbage Collection

Update as of 1:56pm – We just received notification that the Abernathy Landfill will be closing at 2:30pm this afternoon. Republic Services is working to complete routes and finish up for the day. There is an expectation that some routes will not be completed today and will be prioritized for tomorrow morning.

Thankfully, the forecast for the remainder of the week looks to be improved and our garbage collection team will work to get caught up as soon as possible.

February 15, 2023 – We are continuing to monitor the high winds that are continuing to cause concerns at the Abernathy Landfill.

Republic Services is working to stay on course for the day but have been notified that there may be additional landfill closures later today if winds persist.

Additional Updates will be posted to our Facebook and website if needed.

February 14, 2023 – Due to High Winds, Regional Landfills are closing early today Tuesday February 14th.

This will impact garbage collection operations and result in a one day service delay that will continue for all routes throughout the week.

We will continue to monitor the weather reports while communicating with landfill operators and update expectations as they develop on our Facebook page and website.
