Driver's Safety Course

You may request to have your violation dismissed by successfully completing a driver's safety course (DSC). You are eligible to take a driver safety course if you have a valid Texas driver's license or permit and you have not taken a driver safety course within the last twelve (12) months immediately preceding the date of the alleged offense and are not currently taking the course for another traffic violation in the State of Texas. DSC may only be taken for moving violations. You must make a timely appearance in Court to pay the court cost and request a driver's safety course.

If you do not complete the terms of a driver’s safety course, you may be required to pay the fine and any additional costs which will result in a conviction on your driving record. If no payment is made, the case will be set for a hearing to show cause why you failed to comply. Failure to appear at this hearing may result in a separate offense and a warrant may be issued for your arrest. Failure to appear in court or failure to satisfy a judgment ordering the payment of a fine and cost in the manner ordered by the court may result in the denial of renewal of your driver's license.

  • ONLY pay court costs ($134) and driver safety course fee ($10).
  • 90 days to complete the course, submit certificate of completion and driving record.
  • Most driver safety course websites have bundles available to purchase a driving record with a course. If you just take the course, you can purchase your driving record at this website: (form 3a)
  • No further offenses/violations in the State of Texas while this violation is still open.
  • You may submit your certificate and driving record via email, mail, or in person.

  •    Possess a valid Texas driver's license or permit.
  •    Show proof of financial responsibility or vehicle liability insurance in your name, or as a listed driver.
  •    Enter a plea of "guilty" or "no contest".

  •    Offenses committed in a construction work maintenance zone when workers are present.
  •    Holders of a CDL license regardless of vehicle driven.
